Local Buying Tips

Seller’s Tips

“Remove the Clutter: Store any excessive clutter you have around your home.  Prospective buyers should be able to envision their items in the home, not yours.  Seldom used appliances should be stored away.  Make sure all dirty dishes and clothes are properly put away.  When in doubt, go with the “less is best” approach.”

“First Impressions: We’ve all heard first impressions are the most lasting impression.  In home buying, first impressions are often the only impression.  Many times, potential home buyers prequalify a home based on pictures online or simply driving by.  Present your home accurately, but in the best light by keeping the home “show ready” at all times inside and out.”

Buyer’s Tips

“Real Talk: Having a wish list is an important step to buying a home.  Having a realistic wish list is even more important!  Knowing what types of amenities and features are practical for your budget and desired location can save you and your agent valuable time in the search process.”

“HGTV isn’t always Reality TV: We all love the TV shows where people are able to create show homes out of outdated homes, but some of the things portrayed in those shows are not how they are in reality.  Not every seller is making massive profits and a complete update of a kitchen might cost a little more than your favorite celebrity “flipper” states on TV.  Always trust the experts when “guesstimating” repair or updating costs.  It’ll save you lots of heartache and headaches down the road.”
